MAJOR EVENTS OF THE YEAR
STUDENTS COUNCIL ELECTIONTo expose the students to the intricacies involved in our parliamentary democratic system, students elect their own prefect board through election every academic year. The election procedure is an exact simulation of our general polls which involves filing of nomination by the contestants, release of manifesto by contestants, vigorous campaigning, registering of ballot by the students, counting and result declaration, investiture ceremony etc.
KARGIL DAYPatriotism is a vital virtue which must be deep rooted in young minds. In our school, we observe Kargil Day in commemoration of the heroic deeds of our soldiers and to kindle the patriotic feelings in students and to make them good, law abiding Samaritans. We also conduct contests like Inter House Patriotic songs and skits to arouse the feeling of oneness and patriotism.
SPORTS DAYTo prove our students are proficient in all spheres, Sports Day is celebrated and competed by our students.
TEACHERS DAYTeachers Day is celebrated at Pon Vidya Mandir where the School Prefect Board organizes various programmes on that day in honour of the teachers.
SCIENCE EXHIBITIONTo spark ones imagination about Science and to kindle the spirit of Science in the children, Science day is being celebrated. The Science Exhibition ‘Carnival of Eureka’ in which the students exhibit new concepts with working models is organized in a big way.
Children are budding scientists and our aim is to ignite their minds, to promote scientific temper, our school organizes carnival of eureka to bring out the latent talent and bringing out the curiosity of the child. Here we give opportunity to the child to explore the scientific world.
CHILDRENS DAYOn this day teachers of Pon Vidya Mandir present a variety of events to entertain the children.
ANNUAL DAYThe most eagerly awaited event, both by parents and children is the Annual Day. This day is more special due to our school philosophy of “Every Child On The Stage”.
SKMSA CHESS TOURNAMENTThe prestigious annual SKMSA ( Smt. Kannammal Memorial Sports Academy ) Tournament on any one sport is organized in the school campus every year in the month of January. Enthusiastic participants from various private and government schools in the district take part in the tournament. Attractive prizes are distributed to the victorious players.
YOUNG CREATORS DAYYoung Creators Day for the students of LKG to grade V is celebrated in the month of January every academic year. On this day the young tender children present the concepts learnt in their curriculum in various forms like recitation, skit, chart display, narration, role play and demonstration. Parents and guests are invited to witness the presentation.
Our children are inspired by exposing themselves to child prodigies to show that age is no bar for achievement. We also instill the never die and never give up spirit by associating with great people.
CLUBS AND ACTIVITIESTo inculcate various life skills like collaborating, planning, organizing and executing, four clubs namely Art Club, Sports Club, Health Club and Eco Club have been functioning in the school. Each club has its own agenda of promoting their goals.
COMPETITIONSTo exhume the talents in individuals, competitions are conducted for the students covering a spectrum of subjects and topics. To inculcate the team spirit among students and enhance their talent in working in teams, inter house competitions are conducted. Students of Pon Vidya Mandir are provided ample opportunities to participate in interschool competitions and state level competitions.
FIELD TRIPSTo understand, co-relate and co-ordinate theoretical knowledge and practical reality, numerous field trips are organized for all age specific groups.
WORK SHOPSWorkshops are organized for teachers for updation of recent trends in education and teaching/learning methodologies by experts in the education field. Students are also involved in workshops which require presence of children which also motivate them to formulate their path of success.
Periodic workshops are conducted for parents to constantly update them on subjects relating to their wards studies and keep them informed of the various new opportunities prevalent.
CAMPSTo reinforce the knowledge of students and orient them in all aspects, a multitude of camps are organized.
